Reading Schools

Reading Schools is an accreditation programme for schools run by the Scottish Book Trust and the Scottish Government. We started this journey in November 2022 to show that we are committed to building a reading culture for our learners and learning communities. As a school, we want to promote reading for enjoyment because we know
that this not only enhances young people’s vocabulary but also improves their comprehension
skills. Research proves that reading for enjoyment is central to supporting our young pupils’ wellbeing, positively impacting learners’ attainment across the curriculum. It develops critical thinking, creativity, empathy and resilience.
