Core Values
What are our Core Values?
Core Values are at the heart of our school. They define who we are, how we work, what we believe in and what we stand for. These values guide how we act and how we expect to be treated.
Ambition is the strong desire to do or achieve something. (Article 29 of the UNCRC)
Inclusion is the action or state of being included within a group or structure. (Articles 3, 4, 6 & 12 of the UNCRC)
Integrity is the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles. (Article 14 of the UNCRC)
Respect is a feeling of deep admiration for someone or something. (Articles 3, 4, 12 & 29 of the UNCRC)
The History of defining the Core Values at Inverurie Academy.
In January 2017, the School Captains at Inverurie Academy embarked on a series of workshops to collect a set of values words. These workshops took in students, primary school pupils, parents, staff and community partners and were followed by an online vote on which values best represented the heart of the school. In determining the final four values, the School Captains referenced the history and heritage of the crest and motto of Inverurie Academy and also looked at each word set against the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (read more about the Convention here).
Sincere thanks to the School Captains of 2016-17 for their work – Archie Whyte, Caitlin Vogt, Lewis Khan and Elizabeth Smith.
Core Values Brand and Visuals
Following the journey described above, the school worked with the Inverurie Business Association and the BID organisation to create a look and brand identity for our Core Values. For this we are very grateful for the work carried out by local firm CP&Co.
