Winning International Business Student Contest

Inverurie Academy Student Shannon Ferries Wins Student Contest

Shannon Ferries, a student at Inverurie Academy, has been announced the winner of an international business student contest. The contest, which closed in February of 2020, asked students from around the world to pitch innovative business concepts to a panel of experienced judges.

Claiming victory over runners up from locations across the globe — including the USA,  Argentina, as well as many entrants from the UK — Shannon received a £1000 grant to help start up her dream enterprise.

Selected for championing the voice of youth, Shannon’s winning competition entry pitched a platform to help students aged 13-18 years old find work offering real experience and genuine opportunities for career development. An often under-utilised section of the UK workforce, Shannon’s pitch captivated the judges through its forward-thinking solutions to real-world problems.

Founder of Mint Formations Rajesh Velayuthasamy was thrilled to award Shannon the £1000 prize money. “We had some really exciting entries to our award competition, but Shannon’s stood out above the crowd not only for its ingenuity but also its genuine viability. Shannon’s astute knowledge of this major gap in the market for jobs and employability really shone through and made her a well-deserving winner.”

The team at Mint Formations hopes Shannon’s win will inspire other business minds to put their ideas out there. The possibilities of finding rewarding opportunities are available to everyone.
